在全球化高速发展的今天,科技领域的交流与合作愈发频繁和深入。不同国家在科技研发、创新成果分享等方面的互动日益增多,科技文本作为承载着先进科学知识和技术信息的重要载体,其准确翻译的重要性日益凸显。本文旨在探讨功能对等理论对科技文本翻译的指导作用。基于相关文献,论文将分析科技文本的词汇特点,即专业术语和动名词的高频度使用。同时,对科技文本常用被动句、长难句等句法特点进行探讨,意在功能对等理论指导下,提出科技文本的翻译策略,包括词汇对等和句法对等层面。At a time of rapid globalization, exchanges and cooperation in the field of science and technology are becoming more frequent and deeper. Different countries are increasingly interacting in scientific and technological research and development and sharing of innovative achievements, and the importance of accurate translation of scientific and technological texts, as an important carrier carrying advanced scientific knowledge and technological information, is becoming more and more prominent. The purpose of this paper is to explore the guiding role of the functional equivalence theory in the translation of scientific and technical texts. Based on the relevant literature, the thesis will analyze the lexical characteristics of scientific and technical texts, i.e., the high-frequency use of technical terms and gerunds. At the same time, the syntactic characteristics of scientific and technical texts, such as common passive sentences and long and difficult sentences, will be explored, with the intention of proposing translation strategies for scientific and technical texts under the guidance of the theory of functional equivalence, including the levels of lexical equivalence and syntactic equivalence.
科技英语翻译在当今全球化和科技交流频繁的时代愈发重要,专业术语的精准翻译则是其中的关键环节。本文基于目的论的理论框架,深入剖析《经济学人》科技文本中专业术语的翻译策略。研究发现,科技文本具有专业性强、词汇特定、信息量大等特点,专业术语具有多义性、客观性、构词复杂等特性。在翻译过程中,应依据目的论的目的性、连贯性和忠实性原则,灵活运用意译、音译、形译等方法,并结合科技文本的专业性和术语的特殊性,实现准确、专业且符合目标读者需求的翻译,为科技知识的跨语言传播提供有力支持。The translation of technical English is becoming increasingly important in today’s era of globalization and frequent technological exchanges, and accurate translation of professional terminology is a key link in it. This article is based on the theoretical framework of functionalism and deeply analyzes the translation strategies of professional terminology in The Economist’s scientific and technological texts. Research has found that technological texts have strong specialization, specific vocabulary, and a large amount of information. Professional terms have characteristics such as polysemy, objectivity, and complex word formation. In the process of translation, it is necessary to flexibly use methods such as free translation, transliteration, and form translation based on the principles of purpose, coherence, and fidelity of teleology, and combine them with the professionalism of scientific texts and the specificity of terminology to achieve accurate, professional, and target readers’ needs in translation, providing strong support for the cross linguistic dissemination of scientific and technological knowledge.
